The UN Special Envoy on Water, ms Retno Marsudi, attended the 7th Interational Sympsosium on Knowledge and Capacity for the Water Sector, held at IHE Delft from 2-4 July 2025. After her keynote address, Rector Eddy Moors discussed the composition and collective objectives of the committee in a bilateral meeting, and handed over the new committee brochure.

Ms Retno Marsudi was appointed as the first United Nations Special Envoy on Water, taking up office in November 2024. The purpose of her mission is galvanizing partnerships and concrete efforts to advance the water agenda, including the follow up on the outcomes of the UN 2023 Water Conference. She plays an important role in contributing to global water dialogues, and contributing to the work of UN Water, the implementation of the UN System-wide Strategy on Water and Sanitation, and the SDG 6 Global Accelerator Framework.
