Committee members and observers

The committee’s Core Team, consisting of a co-chair on behalf of policy organizations (Martien Beek, Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management), a co-chair on behalf of knowledge institutes (Michelle van Vliet, Utrecht University) and the committee coordinator (Martijn van Staveren, IHE Delft Institute for Water Education) convene regularly and coordinate NUWWC activities.

The distinction between members and observers is only made when major decisions need to be taken about Resolutions (UNESCO) or Decisions (WMO), proposed during IHP Council or WMO Congresses respectively. In that case, UN memberstates need to formally express the position of their country’s government. In the NUWWC, policy institutes can benefit from the advise from members regarding proposed Resolutions or Decisions. This distinction follows procedural guidelines of decision-making at UN bodies.
