On 18 November, the 2nd meeting in 2025 of the NUWWC took place. About 20 representatives of the scientific, policy and implementation communities working on international hydrology convened at Fort Vechten, Bunnik. Discussions during and results of the meeting included the following:
- Presentations by representatives of the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute and the National Hydrological Advisor on highlights of the WMO Extraordinary Session of Congress (October 2025). We discussed key thematic priorities and the way our interaction/communication with WMO is taking place.
- Updates on UNESCO IHP‘s initiative concerning the Water Sciences Report, the initiative to develop a Water Education Indicator, and redistribution of Council Member and Sub-Committee memberships following the UNESCO General Conference.
- Discussion about the first Policy Advice by the NUWWC, developed by the committee providing recommendations to the new Cabinet regarding knowledge and innovation in international water cooperation.
- A very informative tour around Fort Vechten, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Dutch Water Defence Lines,” and home to WAMU-net member Waterliniemuseum. Board members of the museum participated in the tour.
