New name: Netherlands UNESCO WMO Water Committee

In December 2024 the formerly called Netherlands IHP-HWRP Committee decided to change its name to ‘Netherlands UNESCO WMO Water Committee’ (NUWWC). Most important reason was the clarity of the new name: it avoids reference to (expired) programme titles and now clearly states the water-oriented collaboration with UNESCO and WMO. The NUWWC will fulfil the same roles as IHP National Committees, providing constructive input to UNESCO IHP’s water programme. The collaboration with WMO takes shape in close collaboration with KNMI and the National Hydrological Advisor.

In the first months of 2025, the name change was implemented. The website and the committee brochure have been updated. The new name will be used as an opportunity to reaffirm the committee’s role, past successes and future ambitions, vis-à-vis the wider professional hydrology network.
